From The Desk of Warren EllisAll those informational essays and articles on Warren Ellis' website...gone. But at least, he collected them into a book for everyone.
These websites and books are ones that I found helpful when practicing the craft of writing (both comic book and prose). I learned prose first and then studied and practiced working in the comic book medium before attempting any comic book work. That approach worked well for me. Comic books, screenplays, plays, novels, and short stories all have a common foundation...they are all ways to tell a story. Once you've learned good storytelling, it's just a matter of learning how to make the most of each individual medium to bring that story to life for the audience.
And remember, books and articles on writing are great, but they don't do a damn thing for you if you don't apply what you learn--make sure that when you learn something new, you take a few days to practice it in your writing. It may take longer to get through them that way, but it's worth it in the long run.
